Golden Globes Flashback: Julia Louis-Dreyfus 1994

Julia Louis-Dreyfus has been immortalized in television history with her character of "Elaine Benes" on Seinfeld. After four seasons on the show, she was finally nominated for her first Golden Globe, which she won. As it was her first major award, she was anxious to hold it in her hands.

While she had previously been nominated for Emmy Awards, the comedic actress had yet to be nominated for a Golden Globe until 1994, when she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for Seinfeld.

Upon hearing her name called as the recipient of the award, Louis-Dreyfus rushed to the stage to collect the coveted Golden Globe. After being stopped by ET backstage following her acceptance of the award, she explained why she was so eager to grab the award with her signature comic flare.

"Well, I won an award and I didn't want anyone to take it away so I ran and I grabbed it before anybody else took," she said with a chuckle.

As fate would have it, her race to grab the award proved to be justified.

She was nominated for the same award for Seinfeld the following year and was nominated 12 years later for The New Adventures of Old Christine but didn't win either award.

Despite her limited success at the Globes, Louis-Dreyfus has won three Emmy Awards, including an award at the most recent Emmys for her current comedy series, Veep.

With a nomination for Veep at this year's Globes, she may be running to the podium once more for an award for her other hand.
